Living with mold is a constant battle, forcing constant redecoration every few months!
Dylan, who works in the retail sector, expressed his deep disappointment, stating, "We feel utterly let down. I contribute to the rent payments every month, only to be met with silence and indifference from Stockport Homes regarding the quality of the properties they lease out."
He continued, "Our feelings of being let down by them are immense. We've been reporting the issue relentlessly, and it takes them months upon months upon months to even acknowledge it. When we finally get a response, it's often a superficial, half-hearted attempt at a fix."
"On one occasion," Dylan recalled, "they sent someone out who simply painted over the moldy bathroom wall, apparently considering that their solution to the problem."
But here's where it gets truly frustrating... Every surveyor who has visited their home has pointed to the bathroom as the root cause of all these issues. They've repeatedly stated that the entire bathroom needs replacing, a sentiment echoed by Dylan and his household. However, when they communicated this to Stockport Homes, the response was a firm "no."
This leaves them in a dire situation: "So, we're living in a house that's overrun with mold, making all of us sick, and this has been particularly bad over the last few years." Dylan elaborated on his personal struggles, "I already have chest problems, and I've noticed that with these ongoing issues, my condition has worsened tenfold in recent years."
And this is the part most people miss: When a property's core issues, like a dilapidated bathroom, are ignored, it can create a cascading effect of health problems and ongoing costs for tenants. Is it fair for tenants to bear the brunt of such neglect?
